nominating convention resulted. The first national nominating convention was held in Philadelphia on September 11, 1830, by the short-lived Anti-Mason party. The first Democratic national convention (although the party was still officially called the Democratic-Republican party) was held in Baltimore on May 21-22, 1832. In 1832 there was no disharmony concerning the renomination of Jackson, but there was disagreement among the party concerning his running mate. The convention was convened along the lines still in use today. Each state was allowed to choose its delegates any way it wished, but the number of delegates was limited to the number of electors. The convention settled on a Jackson-VanBuren ticket. The Democrats held a national convention quadrennially thereafter. “AL’JIHAD”– by, Imam Mahdi . © ® ™ : Of 842 Pages Is 587
