Founded over 35 years ago, ALEH has grown to be Israel’s foremost network of care for children and young adults with severe complex disabilities. ALEH provides a supportive framework for life, enabling these children to attend school, participate in vocational programs, and enjoy normative activities such as swimming at the beach or touring Israel’s beautiful sites – just like their non-disabled peers. In a world full of obstacles and exclusionary practices, ALEH promotes the acceptance and inclusion of individuals with all levels of abilities. In its efforts to create a more caring and inclusive society in Israel, ALEH has developed numerous Tikkun Olam and volunteer programs, and fostered integrative community activities aimed at changing common attitudes towards individuals with disabilities. As ALEH has grown, so has its extended family of friends and supporters around the world. Parents and children, caregivers and patients, the IDF, government ministers and schoolchildren, foundations and caring individuals of all ages around the world – ALEH has become a global community based on principles of sensitivity, commitment and kindness, making a difference in the lives of Israel’s most vulnerable children and building a better, more caring world for all of us.
