Due to the vicious nature of the feeding frenzy, it’s best not to use light tippet unless you enjoy hard takes and experiencing just as many break-offs. Make it easy on yourself and use something sturdy, like 3x tippet, or better yet, a straight 6-10ft section of 8 or 10lb fluorocarbon line.

At the end of the day, your foam flies are chewed, frayed, and bruised. The weighted Prince Nymphs and beadhead boatmen are just plain-old beat up and damned near useless.

Best put on a pot of coffee and fill those empty fly slots. This should last a few weeks…
