Alberta trout lakes can be absolutely amazing for trout fishing. No matter if you’re trolling, casting or jigging, structure is king. Look for islands, points, rocks & creek mouths.
Over the years, I've tried many techniques and put on endless amounts of tackle on my line. I've found a few things that work but regardless of what you're using, presentation is very important. Whether you're using a spinner, spoon, plug or tube jig, you need to know how to use it and what to use in the spot that you're fishing in.
The colour of your tackle is important. Know what kind of trout you're going for and know what they're feeding on - find something that is naturally coloured to the fishing environment and prey (think suckers, whitefish, young trout, etc). If you're in the right spot fishing the right structure at the right time of day, it'll be hard to keep em' off!
