WINTER RYE
Winter rye is the most winter-hardy winter grain. It can be grazed deep into the fall, competes with weeds and produces lots of forage/green manure in the spring. Germinates down to 35°F. Performs well on low fertility and/or droughty soils. Excellent feed value as forage. Average grain yields range from 35-55 bu/acre. Seed 50-100 lbs/acre for cover crop and 100 lbs/acre for grain/
forage. Also called Fall Rye or Cereal Rye. Do not confuse with Annual/Perennial ryegrass which are cool season pasture grasses.

HYBRID WINTER RYE
In 2015 U of MN trials, hybrid winter rye yielded 39 - 90 bu/acre more than common varieties. Hybrid rye has more uniform height
and maturity, deeper root system, more tillering, and better quality than open pollinated winter rye. This high-yielding, low-input
crop has potential to open up new markets for milling, distilling, or feed. Seed cannot be saved and will lead to an uneven crop, big
yield reduction, and greater risk for ergot. Unit size is 1 million seeds. Seed rate 0.6 to 0.75 units/acre.
Brasetto (C) - NEW ! Bred by KWS. Yields significantly more than common varieties. Shorter with excellent lodging and
disease resistance. Proven low ergot variety. Superior grain quality makes it ideal for milling, distilling, or feed. Place on
