Sweat Fitness Namibia recently added yoga to their array of fitness activities and we have some amazing tips for beginners from their talented Yogi, Ros Limbo. As well as advice on how to implement it into your life.

.

1.It’s all about you

The practice is all about introspective and personal growth; and growth is continuous. Don’t compare yourself with others. Where you are in your journey is where you need to be to learn what is necessary for you to become the best version of yourself.

2.Respect your body

Don’t push yourself too hard, it’s a journey and not a race.

Listen to your body and respect the level that it is at. Don’t push yourself into a space that is uncomfortable.

3.A little goes a long way

Try and do a little everyday. A good 15 minutes of yoga every day is better than an hour long session once a week. Use these 15 minutes to check in on yourself. Find out where you are mentally, physically and spiritually.

4.Breathe

The breath reminds us we are alive and that in itself should make us thankful. The breath in yoga ties together physical movement along with the emotional state of being; creating balance from within.

5.The perfect teacher

Each teacher is different from the way they cue poses to how they explain the subtleties of spiritual enlightenment. Find yourself a teacher that you are comfortable with. Having someone you can relate to reduces the anxieties that might come with growing in your personal practice.
