About the Poet:

Natache Sylvia Iilonga, a born and bred Namibian black woman, emerging creative and photographer-in-progress. She completed her BAS degree at the University of KwaZulu Natal in 2014 and masters at the Graduate School of Architecture University of Johannesburg in 2017; presently doing her Architect-in-Training with Nina Maritz Architects in Windhoek, Namibia. She is currently enjoying engagements and assisting in managing the Land Pavilion Project and Decolonising Space Group with fellow radical-minded academics, creative artists and young NUST (Namibia University of Science and Technology) DASP students. On topics of racism and decolonisation of urban space in our incredibly conservative Namibian society. However, her interests in the uses of architectural representation in the documentation of the layered black woman, continuously holds her obsession. And, simultaneously, working on an adaptation of her thesis with explorations on the existence of the black Namibian woman in the democratic space.
