Dancing:

Why did you start dancing?

I just used to dance as a means of expression and then I got approached by more skillful dancers and so I got serious about it as well. YouTube videos really helped mold me as well, as watching other dancers contributed to how often I danced.

What type of dancing styles do you do?

At first I could only do hip-hop, but as I got older and matured I can now do a bit of kizomba and afro-pop. However, I can dance to anything someone teaches me.

Did you think you’d be this good of a dancer five years ago?

I don’t even consider myself that great of a dancer, but I definitely improved immensely as compared to when I first begun.

What’s the secret to having a co-ordinated dance structure when choreographing a dance routine with a partner?

Well, teamwork definitely plays a huge role. As well as each individual having the desire to want to choreograph a great routine. Passion for dancing is vital in maintaining a bond between each individual.

When someone wants to learn how to dance, what advice would you give them?

I guess don’t try to be mainstream. Don’t try to emulate a specific dancer, instead be versatile when it comes to the type of dancers you want to learn from. Eventually, you’ll learn which type of dance style you’re most comfortable with.

What else are you passionate about besides dancing and Karate?

I like art. I started drawing at a very young age and I was fortunate enough to go to a high school that had visual art as a subject. And after high school people approached me for body paintings and now it’s something I do occasionally,

Some may consider your dancing as very sensual. What’s your response to that?

I consider it art, as its a style of dance. Also, I’m good at it so why not.

What’s your favorite type of music to dance to at the moment?

Mellow R&B is really just doing it for me. Which is a huge contrast to the HipHop music I used to dance to. But I’ve been learning how to dance to Afro-pop with Ateam and I’m really enjoying it.
