Kicking off the year on a high note, the North Gwinnett Latin Club had its first official social event in the form of an ice cream social in conjunction with an informational meeting. The officers introduced themselves to the bright, young freshman and told of their plans for the new school year. All eyes were on the ambitious President, Kevin Kim, as he began the much-anticipated meeting. Vice President, Daniel Lee, spoke of his plans to have multiple service projects and social events throughout the school year with the theme in mind. The excitement and expectation could be seen in the glistening eyes of the attendees, unable to keep the grins off their faces. The GJCL President, Michael Banks, shared his anticipation for the greatest year the GJCL has ever had. After the announcements were all presented, the liveliness synonymous with the NGJCL came to life as JCLers could be seen in their natural habitat. APs were spotted in the corner together, lamenting over Vergil’s constant syncopation of the genitive and the inaccuracies of Poetry In Translation. Slow to become comfortable, little freshman were grouped up together in the back as the omnipresent Magister Martin spoke to them enthusiastically about certamen and academic tests. The poor Latin 3s, feeling like the neglected middle child, were seen wandering, lost in their short days left with the cast of Cambridge. The Neapolitan ice cream, the clear star of the show, made its grand appearance as all were eager to get the sweet, creamy, melted deliciousness. Bouncing from wall to wall, the pride of the North Gwinnett Junior Classical League, James Geum (otherwise known as the NRGdynamo9000), was observed making new friends and catching up with old ones. To the surprise of few, alumni Jonny Park, Michael Lee, and Whitney Alex Morris arrived at the scene to indulge in the JCLove and scrumptious ice cream. All were having fun, especially the grandfathered. With tunes blaring, people laughing, the Geum laughing, and joy filling the air, indeed, hectic as usual, but family nonetheless.

All smiles for the picture! The JCLove can be seen all around on the faces of Latin 1s to the grandfathered as North Gwinnett holds an ice cream social to kick off the new school year.

A thousand words can’t even begin to describe the atmosphere when the NGJCL is in the house! Let it be known far and wide that North doesn’t play when we bring out the Neapolitan ice cream. (peep the NRGdynamo9000 in his iconic green jacket)
