It’s a four- year process, so my tasks became more complex as I learned new skills,” Smith recalls. “Apprenticeships can do much more than just teach you technical skills. You learn how to work with other people and coordinate all the different parts of a project. Learning how to talk to people and present yourself isn’t something you can learn from a book.” After completing his training, Smith passed a test to earn his journey- man license, opening the door for more opportunities. “If you focus and apply yourself, this company will help you reach whatever goal you set, whether it’s to be a plumber, electrician, HVAC installer or project manager.
