The health care industry benefits fro
very low unemployment.
Springdale that helps people who are recovering from an injury or
illness, as well as patients who need long term or hospice care.
“Our nurses, certified nursing assistants and housekeeping and
dietary staff are committed to giving quality care while respecting
the dignity and well-being of our residents,” says Denny Ledford, the
administrator at Shiloh Nursing and Rehab.
Shiloh Nursing and Rehab employs nearly 120 people, with most of
those being certified nursing assistants and licensed practical nurses.
“There’s very low unemployment in this area and our challenge is
competing with other health care providers for the same people with
those skills,” Ledford says.
That’s why the company will pay for you to get the training you need
to become a certified nursing assistant, or CNA. “We sponsor em-
ployees,” Ledford explains. “You can apply, and if you’re hired we
will pay for the classes you need to earn your CNA license.”
CNAs provide basic care and help residents with activities like
grooming or dressing. Ledford says you don’t need prior expe-
rience, just a heart for helping others. “You can’t always teach some-
one how to do this job. It takes a lot of compassion and you need to
have a calling and desire to work with the elderly.”
He knows from experience. “I cared for my dad who had Alzhei-
mer’s. I worked as a CNA for a year and learned from that. Having
that experience can better prepare you to move up in your career,”
he explains.
