About a year later, I returned to my role as a PCT in the emergency department at Mer- cy.” His hard work soon earned him a promotion to trauma registrar, where he was charged with collecting information for a statewide database that tracks care for patients with certain types of injuries. Less than a year later, he was promoted again to his current role. Powell sees a future at Mercy. “I would love to eventually be a hospital CEO, and I’m thinking about getting my master’s degree. For anyone who’s interested in health care or any other kind of career, don’t be afraid to start small and take time to figure out what you want to do. If you think you might want to be a nurse, start out as a CNA.
