started as a CAD technician.
Foster says there are some things you can
do to get a head start. He recommends
taking classes in school that teach you how
to use computer aided drafting software
and using online resources to help learn the
basics. The company’s engineers and CAD
technicians are in charge of designing and
detailing the systems.
Once the engineers and CAD technicians
complete the plans, the shop team gets to
work fabricating the new system. That involves
using state of the art laser systems and other
equipment to cut out and form the stainless
steel components that will be assembled, finished, tested and
become the final product.
With the product being completed, the Service and Installation
division takes over. The crews travel across the country, installing
the new equipment in the customer’s plant and making sure it
works perfectly.

“We do the whole process from start to finish,”
explains Mike Christiansen, shop lead. He started
out running the Trumpf Laser at D&F a few years
ago and plans to grow his career at the company.
