The Voice of Innkeeping Vol 2 Issue 2 June Summer 2017 | Page 4

Please enjoy the latest edition of The Voice of Innkeeping. A big thank you to those that have contributed their knowledge and expertise to this issue’s edition. Also, a special thank you to all our many advertisers. We could not put this publication together without your support. I wanted to acknowledge our hard-working staff team and our dedicated army of volunteers. We are working hard as a new organization to fulfill our mission and we are so blessed at AIHP to have such talent and passionate souls. Each contributes far more then we could ever compensate them or thank them for. I thank you for that.

“There is nothing permanent except change” – Heraclitus. As you all know our industry is ever changing and AIHP is committed to staying abreast of the news and issues that are important to your business. I am grateful to our members and partners who help us to stay on that cutting edge for you our members and those of you that we would love to see become a part of the AIHP family.

Please take a moment to review AIHP’s updated Online Short-Term Rental Platforms - Position Paper. Thank you to the AIHP board and our taskforce for the hard work they put in each day, working with me to make sure that we are staying abreast and engaged in this critical issue.

I wanted to thank Acorn Internet Services for bringing an important industry issue to AIHP’s attention. This issue is regarding the secure HTTPS:// servers that many associations and directories are moving to (typically as per Google's insistence). This is an important issue that all innkeepers need to be paying attention to. You will find more information in this edition

It was great to be back on the road again right after the Memorial Day weekend. I had the pleasure of being hosted by one of our AIHP member’s The Avalon Hotel on Catalina Island – Kathleen and Rock were gracious enough to bid on my services during our live auction in Long Beach. Due to their generosity, I was able to spend three days talking with innkeepers and tourism officials all over the island. I am looking forward to having new AIHP members join us - in no small part to Kathleen and Rock laying the foundation.

We continue our wonderful momentum – a big thank you for your support. Stay tuned on when we will be holding the next AIHP Town Hall webinar – most likely early summer. As always please reach out at any time. I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

Rob
