Airbnb Update from Summit

Chip Conley, formerly Head of Global Hospitality and Strategy for Airbnb (and now Strategic Advisor for Hospitality and Leadership), and a current owner of B&Bs and boutique hotels, addressed innkeepers attending the InnSpire Summit and Marketplace in Long Beach, CA. Chip talked about Airbnb's continued evolution towards collecting occupancy tax, and working with cities, towns and municipalities on common sense legislative regulations, as well as the collaboration to date with AIHP.

He expressed appreciation for AIHP's guidance in helping Airbnb's leadership team and company better understand the B&B industry. Additionally, he explained Airbnb is working with AIHP to explore new initiatives that could give professionally run B&Bs, inns and other small lodging properties more visibility and prominence on the site. Chip shared with those in attendance that they are working toward a special designation for professionally run inns and B&Bs on Airbnb, with a goal of making that announcement in the second half of 2017. Chip also introduced Cameron "Cammy" Houser, an experienced Airbnb market representative, as the dedicated point person to help AIHP members successfully list their properties on Airbnb's site. Cammy can be reached at
