PRESENTATION
World-class operations to bring
best-in-class solutions
The HVAC EUROPE research and design centre, factories and laboratory facilities
design, manufacture and test equipment for customers throughout the world.
Located near Lyon, France, the Montluel laboratory is unique
in Europe, both in terms of cooling capacity coverage,
measurement accuracy and EN 14511 compliance.
Laboratory tests
• 16 individual test stations with 11 individual test rooms
• Ambient control from -20°C to 55°C
• Individual unit test capacity up to 3,000 kW
Quality and reliability to obtain stable conditions
Engineers carry out extensive tests on all products in real-life
conditions. These tests comply with the European standard
EN 14511 and AHRI551/591, which specify the testing
methodology and procedures.
EN 14511 is also the testing standard used by the European
HVAC industry association Eurovent for the certification of
chiller performance.
EN 14511 sets challenging quality criteria that must be met in
order to ensure that measurements taken during the test are
accurate and reliable. There are strict limits on the variation of
both actual and average temperatures during the data
acquisition period. These limits also apply to water flow rates
and to electrical data.
Cofrac certification for customer tests
The laboratory is accredited for ISO 17025 by the French
Committee for Accreditation (Cofrac), an independent
organisation that audits all activities related to customer tests,
the laboratory’s quality system and organisation. Carrier is
certified to perform tests for customers, acting as a third-party
laboratory.
The strength of a global group
Carrier leverages UTC’s world-class research and development resources: United Technologies Research Center (UTRC).
Since its founding in 1929, UTRC has been designing ideas for applications, culminating products, technologies and systems
that impact the world. Its diverse staff includes some of the world’s best scientific and engineering talents. UTRC focuses on
leading-edge technologies that provide elegant solutions to some of the world’s most complex challenges
