On the other hand, the class will forge new
friendships and relationships with students, faculty,
alumni and industry experts. They will get to taste
the sweet victory of beating Melbourne Business
School in the MBA Cup. The class will also have
the opportunity to explore Australia and come to
appreciate not just the beauty of the country but
also its people. Similarly, the exchange programs
will allow the class to diversify their learnings and
help enable students to later on reflect on just
how great AGSM is relative to other international
programs.
So, on behalf of the class of 2016, we wish the class
of 2017 all the best on their journey through the
MBA! We hope that they will find the experience
just as enriching as we have found it and we look
forward to seeing the triumphs that your class will
achieve in the year to come and beyond.

However, as commonly highlighted in the MBA
program, the new cohort will experience numerous
highs and lows as they look to leave their own mark
on the program. Some of the challenges the class
of 2017 will face include studying hard to achieve
great academic results, learning how to manage
difficult team dynamics and ultimately laying down a
comprehensive foundation and network in order to
put their best foot forward for future job interviews.
In reflecting on my own MBA experience and
to help the cohort of 2017 navigate through the
above mentioned highs and lows, I have given four
recommendations:
1.
Participate – Be involved in class
discussions, clubs, student society, events,
internships and exchange programs. You will
never learn as much and be exposed to potential
opportunities, if you are not present.
2.
Give Back – Do not look to only personally
gain in any situation, also look on how you can
reciprocate. It is hardly ever that something
negative comes from helping others and giving
back.
3.
Do case practices – Even if you are not
interested in consulting. It is a great way to refresh
the teachings from the MBA and helps to draw the
links between all the subjects in the MBA program.
4.
Stay determined – Know that things may
not always go as planned or along the expected
path but if you stay determined you will get there.
