Next in Volgende in Food security is defined as the availability of food and one's access to it. A household is considered food secure when its occupants do not live in hunger or fear of starvation. The agricultural sector is responsible for sustainable cultivation of animals, plants, and fish and will have to adapt towards coping with the demands of feeding an increasing population. It also has to secure access to sufficient amounts of safe and nutritious food for normal growth and development, and an active healthy life”. Our main theme for our October edition is “Food security” where we will be investigating the role of the agricultural industry, its respective sectors and subsectors towards securing food and fuel for the masses. Die landbou-sektor is verantwoordelik vir die teling en verbouiing van diere, plante en vis sal moet aanpas om aan die eise van ‘n groeiende bevolking te voldoen. Terselfdertyd sal dit moet sorg vir menslike toegang tot genoegsame, veilige en voedsame kos vir normale groei en ontwikkeling en ‘n gesonde leefwyse. Ons hooftema vir ons Oktober uitgawe is “Voedselsekerheid” waar ons die rol van die landbousektor, sy onderskeie sektore en verwante subsektore, met die oog op voedselsekuriteit vir die massas ondersoek.
