CEMA – the voice of the agricultural machinery industry in Europe

EMA is the umbrella association of agricultural machinery manufacturers in
Europe representing more than 4,500
manufacturers and 10 national industry
associations. The European agricultural machinery
industry reveals an impressively strong and dynamic
manufacturing sector: with an annual production
value of €26 billion in 2014 nearly one third (31%) of
agricultural machinery worldwide is produced in
Europe.
The agricultural machinery industry on a European
level have evolved and grown substantially in recent years. CEMA is the common platform for the
industry representing and defending its interests towards the European institutions which develops the
legislation and regulation affecting the industrial
production of agricultural machinery in Europe.
In line with this, CEMA’s key tasks are to work towards a European legislative and regulatory framework which:
supports the competitiveness of the agricultural
machinery industry in Europe; and
enables the industry to provide innovative solutions to farmers for sustainable productivity
growth in agriculture.
Regarding the first point – competitive industrial
production in Europe - the companies within the
CEMA network maintain significant production facilities and R&D sites in Europe providing direct employment to more than 135,000 persons in Europe
and indirectly to another 125,000 persons in the distribution and service network. As such, it is essential
for the industry, that the European Union establishes
the right conditions to deliver jobs, growth and
competitiveness at international level.
The second point – enabling the industry to provide
innovative solutions to farmers for sustainable
productivity growth in agriculture – is about the
