A
gri-Expo Livestock takes place from Thursday, 13 October to Saturday, 15 October
2016 at Sandringham, Stellenbosch. This
expo places a strong focus on the promotion and showcasing of the agricultural sector, especially the livestock industry and aims to create a platform where South Africa’s youth can participate and
get involved in the various activities.
On Saturday, 15 October, visitors can experience a
thrilling display of skills when young, developing auctioneers compete against each other in the Toyota SA
National Young Auctioneers’ Competition, presented
by Veeplaas/Stockfarm. Participants enter in three categories, namely juniors (for learners 19 years and
younger), young auctioneers (for people 25 years and
younger) and the aspiring auctioneers (auctioneers
that received training, but has not been appointed as

Participants as young as six years old will show their
goats, sheep, cattle and poultry at the Mutual & Federal Agri Western Cape Regional Youth Show, also taking
place on Saturday, 15 October, in the Biomin Show
Arena. This event showcases the experience and showmanship of our agricultural youth.
The schools programme, where an expected 2000
learners will be educated on the dynamics of the industry as well as the large variety of career opportunities
in the agricultural sector, offers interactive programmes and engagement with live animals to increase learners’ participation and learning experience.
