CONSTRUCTION LAW: GREEN BUILDING 101
THE FUTURE OF RESIDENTIAL AND COMMERCIAL CONSTRUCTION IN CALIFORNIA
This course will address the requirements of CALGreen, formerly known as the California Green Building Standards Code as it
relates to new residential and commercial construction, with a focus on current laws as well as those scheduled to take effect
in 2020 and 2025. This course will also address local requirements within San Diego County pursuant to, among other things, San
Diego’s current Climate Action Plan. An overview of global, regional and local environmental concerns driving these laws will be
provided, in addition to an introduction to the U.S. Green Building Council and the San Diego local chapter. Lastly, a very general
overview of Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) will also be provided and discussed.
