The Associated General Contractors of America, San Diego Chapter, Inc. is proud to present the
finalists of the biennial 2017 Build San Diego Awards competition. Over the years, the Build San
Diego Awards program has recognized construction firms that have accepted the challenge to
build San Diego’s schools; parks; entertainment facilities; roads and bridges; airports; laboratories;
manufacturing facilities; office and retail complexes; water and sewage treatment plants;
underground and other infrastructure projects.
In reviewing the 2017 finalists, you will notice the many entries that build or upgrade educational
facilities throughout San Diego. AGC members take immense pride in building quality infrastructure
for the next generation – especially for our young students who are the future leaders.
One of my goals as AGC President in 2017 has been expanding interest in the construction
field to these students in every corner of the County. Be it through a hands-on Apprenticeship
Program, where I got my start, or through a degree program such as the Construction Engineering
Management Program at SDSU, the AGC San Diego Chapter supports creating opportunities
for great careers in the industry. It is likely that an elementary student, enrolled at one of these
newly completed schools, will someday serve as AGC President and continue the tradition of
building a better San Diego.
The construction industry is vital to a prosperous future for our region and is an integral part of
the area’s economy. AGC’s 1,000 plus members are proud to present the 2017 Build San Diego
Awards.
