ASM: Mr. Minister Volleyball is your passion and we can safely say your first love among sports disciplines and the Volleyball discipline has delivered mightily for the country how do you feel about that, and what can you say about the athletes; the two young men who performed so impressively for Sierra Leone

Minister Khanou: For me volleyball is a family affair. I therefore feel fulfilled in that the years I spent leading its operations and philosophy of building a team of like minds has worked well.

The boys were part of that rejuvenation of the sport when we, in 2011, proposed to the CAVB, and, launched the Continental Cup in Freetown. Between then and now, these lads have been to every major African Beach Volleyball World Championships – From Niamey to Congo; from Lagos to Algiers; from Larnaka to Vienna; from Lucerne to Porto; from Accra to Maputo. They have sailed, flown and traversed the world in bid to establish themselves and the country to the point of making themselves the enviable duo of African Beach Volleyball.

I am personally proud of them and would continue to support their final preparations for world exploit after Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games. And this speaks to a six-month training scholarship to China in 2018.

ASM: We at African Sports Monthly want to thank you very much for talking to us and once again Congratulate you the athletes and the country for qualifying to the Gold Coast Australia Commonwealth Games but before we end this interview we want to ask you, if there is anything you would like to say to your countrymen and women, mostly so Athletes and administrators and all of those in the sports family?
