“I believe Ghanaian boxers are capable of becoming world champions and you can see that Emmanuel Tagoe did it by winning the IBO Lightweight belt and there are more champions to come from Ghana” he expressed.

Coach Francis Carl Lokko, head trainer at Bronx Gym and co-manager at Street Wise Boxing Promotions and Management trusts Ghanaian boxers and believes there are many talents yet to be tapped for boxing.

He noted that Ghana has the talent and quality. His own 11year old son, Rahmin Lokko was discovered early enough and has started learning the ABC’s of boxing.

“If you start early, you are always ahead, that is the secret in sports” he said in an exclusive interview with ASM.

He noted that most boxers lack the opportunity to be exposed as it is not easy for promoters to stage bouts for local championships without sponsorship.

He stressed that organizing an ordinary contest is very expensive as a promoter has to hire the venue, ring, lights and sound, pay ushers and MC’s, the boxers, and the cost for the title belt if it is an international contest.
