Ivory Coast International Superstar Yaya Toure, receiving the AFCON Trophy from His Excellency the President of Equatorial Guinea; Teodoro Obiang Nguema Lessons The first and main lesson learnt from the 2015 Afcon is that the fear of Ebola couldn’t stop the organisation of the tournament as it was almost intended to be. No Ebola contamination was announced during the almost a month of get-together of thousands of people. It is the victory of football over phobia. Secondly, the solidarity and promptness of Equatorial Guinea that saved the 2015 Afcon from being abandoned or moved to a far country. Equatorial Guinean president Teodoro Obiang Nguema and his people, who did not contest his decision to host the tournament for fear of the spread of Ebola, are to be commended. 3 Viva Africa!
