These must be interesting times in the heavyweight division. When the Klistchkos were running things HBO refused to televise their fights as they were deemed to be very boring. It was not that they were not good. They just did not generate excitement in the ring. With the current crop of boxers though we can only hope.
Former IAAF president has not only brought disgrace on Africa with the allegations of corruption and cover up of the doping scandal. He also failed to ensure that the World Athletics Championships was held in Africa. When Lord Coe gets over his controversy he is embroiled in I hope that the event will be held in an African Country sometime in the near future. And please not in South Africa! Africa does not begin and end with South Africa!
Every year there are numerous sporting events to look forward to. However the highlight of 2016 will surely be the Olympics in Rio. One of the highlights will be Usain Bolt’s last participation. Most sports have their own World events, but despite the fact that Athletics also has its own World Championships, for me Athletics is the star attraction of the Olympics. That is what made the likes of Carl Lewis, Jesse Owens, Michael Johnson, Kip Keino, Haile Gebrselassie, Nawal El –Moutawakel to mention but a few.
