2015 was a great year for Track and Field in Africa as some of the perennial stars continued their dominant performances on the global stage but what was great is the world welcoming a new generation of African stars in the likes of Wayde Van Niekerk of South Africa and Marie Jose Ta Lou of the Ivory Coast. 2015 in African Athletics Genzebe Dibaba and her teammates after the 5000 meters in Beijing In the Early going the headlines were dominated by Genzebe Dibaba of Ethiopia who once again dominated her distances as she broke one world record after another. And she would then take that to the outdoors where she continued her record setting ways in the 1500 and 3000 meters. On the sprint side even though she would not break any records in 2015, the Ivory Coast’ Muriel Ahoure did put up some stellar performances as she took the 60 meters’ race at the Milrose Games to kick off the year.
