2015 was a great year for Track and Field in Africa as some of the perennial stars continued their
dominant performances on the global stage but what was great is the world welcoming a new
generation of African stars in the likes of Wayde Van Niekerk of South Africa and Marie Jose Ta Lou of
the Ivory Coast.

Genzebe Dibaba and her teammates after the 5000 meters in Beijing
In the Early going the headlines were dominated by Genzebe Dibaba of Ethiopia who once again
dominated her distances as she broke one world record after another. And she would then take that to
the outdoors where she continued her record setting ways in the 1500 and 3000 meters.
On the sprint side even though she would not break any records in 2015, the Ivory Coast’ Muriel Ahoure
did put up some stellar performances as she took the 60 meters’ race at the Milrose Games to kick off
the year.
