Rudi: As mentioned above we have an African event coming up. There are a number of benefits, whether it is in terms of marketing, unification of people, creating heroes, offering an escape route for disadvantaged fighters, or fantastic prize money – the positive factors are only limited by your thinking. We have a programme that entertains both crowds and fighters, but also, in order to have a chance of winning, fighters are going to have to beat the best. That takes discipline hard work and dedication, but is a huge source of pride and motivation for the competitors.

Many fight fans, including the President of MMA South Africa, are thrilled at the competition and the opportunity it brings especially for the growth of the fight game in South Africa and Africa at large, as well as its entertainment value. How do you see this competition affecting the growth of your own business (Fight Club SA Gyms)?

Rudi: As LFS’s official training ground I believe exposure to thousands, if not millions, of people via television will improve brand awareness. We currently have about 12 gym opens or in planning, with a ceiling of 20 nationwide. I believe that with the LFS partnership we will get there within the next six months. In terms of building a brand I believe the two will feed off each other. SA, and Africa as well, are both in for a real treat.

Thank you Rudi for taking the time out to talk to us. We hope your answers have answered the many potential questions that some fans and fighter have been pondering since the news broke about the event. We will certainly be talking to you again about LFS and the fight business as well as your own business as time goes on. Thank you again and take care.

Rudi: Thanks for the chat. I think we are in for an interesting year. Watch this space!
