you are from is a pioneer in women sports administration with it being the only country in the world
currently with a woman Football Chief what can you say are the challenges that women face out there in
admistration and in coaching, like In your situation?
Adama: It is great that FIFA is taking necessary measures to break down these biases. However, I do feel
these barriers will always be there and will be prevalent but they should not deter women from entering into
sports administration but instead motivate us because they can be overcome. I think one of the main things
and there are many, is that most women are easily intimidated in a male dominated environment. Such is
heavily influenced by culture; most cultures do not believe women should be at the forefront of things but
rather observe from the back and may be permitted to voice their opinion. Ultimately your nature nurtures
you; such challenges may or may not be overcome by most women whose desires, passion and hidden talent
to excel in administration or coaching in turn fades away.
ASM: Well it’s been a pleasure doing this interview with you. We want to wish you a Happy International
Women’s Day and best of success with your Soccer Academy and hope that you inspire the next generation
of kids to come out and play soccer as well as young girls to follow in your footsteps in the future.
