ASM: What other roles and positions have you held outside of FASU? Peninnah: I have been involved in quite a number of organizations outside FASU. I am a member of the Executive Committee of the International University Sports Federation (FISU) since 2007 and now serving on a 3rd elective term till 2019 I am the President of the International Roll ball Federation I am a Vice President of the International Woodball Federation I also served as the Secretary General of the Uganda Olympic Committee 2009/2012 I also served as a board member on the National Council of Sports of Uganda from 1999 to 2014 To name but a few. ASM: What are the prospects of women in sports on the Continent? Peninnah: The doors are wide open. We need to take the bull by the horns and get away from our comfort zones. We should present ourselves as candidates for leadership. ASM: what would you say to young girls who are aspiring for a role in sports on the continent? Peninnah: My appeal to all the girls in Africa is: keep focused, know what you want, and go for it. A personal journey requires a road map. Take some time to understand why you really want to get there. Do not seek for favors. Work your way up the ladder. You have the capacity to take on any role once committed. Sport is your birthright and do not allow to be excluded from participation, or denied the benefits, or be subjected to discrimination under any circumstance.
