Weston Williamson +Partners (WW+P)
have been announced the winners of the
Science City International Architectural
Competition in Cairo, Egypt. Another
British practice, Zaha Hadid Architects,
took third place. Organised by the
Bibliotheca Alexandrina and judged by
a panel of world-leading academics and
science entrepreneurs, this was a onestage open international competition for a
comprehensive plan and conceptual design.

the winners of the Science City
International Architectural
Competition on Monday, August
29, opening at the same time, an
exhibition for the public at the BA
conference centre.
The design brief for the competition
of Science City was to create a set of
buildings and spaces that will be inspiring inside
and out, and express a particular vision of the quest
for knowledge and the pursuit of science. With
this approach in mind, the Library of Alexandria
endorsed a Science City project by organizing
an open, one stage international architectural
competition for the comprehensive master plan and
conceptual design.
