African project Southern Sun Dar es Salaam – Tanzania T sogo Sun and Blacksmith Interior Inspiration, a well-known industryexperienced interior designing outfit, collaborated to ensure that the designs of the bedrooms were practical, and combined global hotel design trends and standards with local market requirements. Cognisant of the city’s tropical climatic conditions, typified by hot and humid weather throughout much of the year, the refurbishment aimed for a modern, light feel involving a complete redecoration and replacement of furniture, drapes, lighting, amenities and the addition of new timber-looking floors that better suits the city’s very humid conditions. Additionally, all rooms were fitted with upgraded air-conditioning units and the associated chilled water pipework and insulation were refurbished. “A great hotel anticipates normal wear and tear, and reacts quickly to upgrade and maintain the offering that guests are accustomed to. With the refurbishment we are assured to maintain our status as the best ‘4-star’ hotel in the city, providing both our numerous international guests and our loyal regulars from Tanzania with comfortable rooms, quality facilities and spectacular service,” says Adam Fuller, General Manager at the Southern Sun Dar es Salaam hotel. Blacksmith is a Hotel, Casino and retail specialist interior Design company which has distinguished itself in these sectors over the last 25 years. “We pride ourselves in designing interiors that are specific to the project and thus unique and bespoke in their appeal.
