In Wakiso, Uganda, you will find a dormitory for students from various
countries in Sub-Saharan Africa. Right on the equator and high above
sea level, it offers a comfortable climate, as walls lie on the east and
west sides to keep sunlight out and windows lie on the south and
north sides to bring light and wind into rooms. In order to maximize
the local builders’ technique and the character of local materials, the
building used local bricks and timber as the main materials in a simple
composition.
