FEATURE Architect profile building project, which will set new trends in the Nairobi housing market. Additionally, we are working on a state of the art medical facility and a new mixed use development combining hotel and serviced apartment accommodation. It is certainly a very exciting time to be an architect in East Africa. In which East African cities are you expecting more opportunities and commissions to come from and why do you think these areas have become such dynamic centres of development? All of the capital cities are expanding and offering new opportunities. We hope to expand from our traditional base in Kampala, Nairobi and Dar es Salaam into Kigali and Juba (where we are already working on projects) as well as Mogadishu and Bujumbura where we have started to see new projects arising. Can you unveil some details on upcoming RMJM projects in East Africa? The projects mentioned above are still at the early stages of design development, but we are confident that the collaboration between the studios in East Africa and those in Dubai and further north will produce dividends. Where specific services will be required the ability to work with RMJM’s specialist studios in Sport and Health will allow us to provide clients with one of the best and most professional consultant services in the region.
