A CONTEMPORARY U
The brief to Evolution Architects was to create a new, slightly larger and more
contemporary cricket pavilion for Chelsea Preparatory School in Durban, South
Africa. The site was previously an existing cricket pavilion, but aesthetically, the
new design is completely different to the existing building. The pavilion is located
between the upper and lower cricket fields and is orientated to maximise views
towards the existing cricket fields on both sides of the building. The idea was
for the cricket pavilion to tie in with the existing adjacent grandstand and it was
designed to have a simple, contemporary feel.
