GRASSLAND GARDEN STYLISED GRASSLAND GARDEN PROVIDES WILD AMBIENCE HOUSE MIDDLETON, SANDTON, GAUTENG This garden includes a number of ‘rooms’ but veldgrass interspersed with appropriate herbaceous species is the predominant feature both on the pavement, up one side of the higher terrace and on the extensive mounding surrounding the boma area. Although it is largely planted with South African indigenous species, it is not locally focused soft landscaping. It is, however, a great example of water wise plant selection and attention to detail in both design and execution, as stated in the Judges’ appraisal for the South African Landscapers Industry (SALI) 2018 Gold Award won by Life Landscapes. 18 AFRICAN DESIGN MAGAZINE © | AUGUST 2018
