MAKING WAVES IN AFRICA
While the claim is made for wisdom coming
with age, Hermann Kamte & Associates (HKA)
in Cameroon are definitely an exception to
the rule. This company of young architects
is breaking boundaries and earning a
reputation for itself in the African market.

KA is an award-winning
architectural firm based
in Yaoundé, Cameroon
working predominantly in the African
countries of Nigeria, Niger, Chad
and Cameroon. “We believe that
one should first develop an identity
based in one’s own country, then
establish oneself in the rest of Africa,
and finally globally,” says Kamte.
The company is involved in providing
services that include architecture,
design, urbanism, landscape
design, education, research and
development. Kamte believes that
the creative process is fundamental
and at the basis of each project,
since each project is unique.
Where, required HKA partners
with established professionals, but
traditionally focuses on bringing a
young and fresh approach to design.
HKA is fast making a name for itself
with its modern designs, having
received awards in a number of
competitions, including 2nd prize at
