CTBUH TALL BUILDING AWARDS T he building houses over 100 galleries, spread over nine floors, dedicated to a large cutting edge permanent collection; temporary exhibitions; and Centres for art education, curatorial excellence, performative practice, photography, the moving image, and the Costume Institute. announced and awards conferred at the ceremony and dinner, which concludes the two-day event. This gala dinner is attended by leaders in the tall building industry from around the world. All projects participating in the awards programme are featured in the CTBUH’s annual Skyscrapers Book, Tall Buildings + The adaptive reuse of the massive grain storage and silo complex clearly caught the eye of the judges from the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) when considering worthy projects for their annual Tall Buildings Awards. The Council initiates its Call for Awards in autumn (spring in South Africa) each year and the submission period closes near the end of November at which point Stage 1 judging occurs. The regional Best Tall Building, Urban Habitat, Innovation, and Construction Finalists are selected, as well as the Lifetime Achievement, 10 Year, and Performance Winners. The finalists then present their projects during Stage 2 of the judging process at the two-day Awards Conference held in May. Following the presentations, the jury deliberates and selects the winners in each category.
