the latest sound equipment ensuring an outstanding experience at every single seat . The shell of the building has extensive acoustic treatment to ensure both the best sound quality internally as well as insulating the surrounding areas from excess noise during a concert .
The landscaping in the piazza ties all three buildings together and allows a natural flow through from Menlyn Maine to the new complex , with subtle references to a clock ’ s face being incorporated into the landscape design . Groundwater is used to irrigate the landscaped areas .
In addition to the environmental stewardship provided by the extensive glazing , energy efficiency is further provided by the HVAC , and the mechanically-ventilated super basement pays tribute to what can be achieved by installing cooling system early in the project , thereby allowing work to progress on other elements of the construction programme .
The performance arena is a multipurpose facility which can be configured for concerts , expos , banquets , sporting events and many other functions . At full capacity the arena can accommodate approximately 8 000 people seated and over 10 000 if standing room is included in front of the stage . The tubular steel roof structure has a clear span of 95 m column free . The auditorium is fitted with
