TIME SQUARE MENLYN MAINE
Growing scope
The idea for Time Square began
in early 2014 and rapidly grew
from the original design brief of a
100-room hotel to one that now
houses 238 rooms. The casino
footprint also grew in size to
12 500 m 2 , with additional machines
and gaming tables incorporated to
cater to growing demand.
Clive Jearey, from LYT Architecture
says that the proposal for the
project was presented to the
Gambling Board for approval in
April 2014 and after public hearings
and presentations, excavation
and lateral support work began
in earnest in April 2015. Main
contractor WBHO Construction
North moved onto site to begin
construction in September 2015
and the casino was competed in
April 2017, the Arena in September
2017, with the hotel opening its
doors in March 2018.
“What is significant here is that the
design and later construction of
the casino, hotel, arena, show bar,
restaurants, function spaces and
basement parking was completed
well within the adjusted timeframe
originally set down for the project.
With four large components
required, the team showed its
mettle and ensured that all
elements were open to the public
on time,” says LYT’s Clive Jearey.

International overall vision to
