KNIGHTSBRIDGE LEVERAGING BIOPHILIC DESIGN PRINCIPLES Knightsbridge Manor redevelopment successfully explores the marriage of nature and the built environment Biophilic design principles, which explore the amalgamation of nature with the built environment, form the crux of the design brief for the Knightsbridge Manor redevelopment project. Situated in Bryanston within a green park that houses a large number of fully grown trees, the office complex previously comprised a number of two-storey office buildings. The phased redevelopment project called for a substantial increase in the gross lettable area (GLA) from approximately 10 000 m² to approximately 30 000 m² over seven buildings. 10 AFRICAN DESIGN MAGAZINE ©
