SAISC NEWS CALL FOR ENTRIES 2018 STEEL AWARDS The SAISC calls for entries for the 2018 Steel Awards he SAISC Steel Awards, the premier event on the steel construction industry calendar is open for project nominations. The objective of the awards is to acknowledge excellence in the use of structural steel. “In short,” says Paolo Trinchero, CEO of the SAISC “the primary criterion for Steel Awards is: Does the project illustrate what can be achieved with steel?” Image: Steel Awards 2017 Overall Winner, The BMW H-EMS Roof Lift WHO CAN NOMINATE A PROJECT? Clients/ Developers, Architects, Main Contractors, Project Managers, Structural Engineers, Fabricators, Merchants, Steelwork Contractors, Steel Detailers, Cladding Suppliers, Cladding Contractors or any other project team members. SOME EXCITING CHANGES THAT AFFECT PROJECT ENTRIES: Ÿ The project entry fee has been set at a flat rate of R 1500 per project. Ÿ SAISC and sub-association members can submit one free project for every Ÿ paid project submi ed. For more information on how to become a member of the SAISC visit h ps://www.saisc.co.za/membership/ Ÿ A project scoring sheet has been included in the application form for reference, to give nominators insight into the adjudication process. Ÿ The photo competition will be open to members of the public, and short-listing of photographs will take place on Instagram. The submi ed photograph must have been taken in 2017 or 2018, and must be either of a Southern African steel structure – or a portrait photograph of a person who works in the SA steel industry.
