Earth a hit in South
Africa
BC Brit and BBC Earth, two new
global channels from BBC Worldwide,
made their South African debut on at
the beginning of September 2015.
They have become instant winners with local
audiences, providing strong overnight figures for
launch week on Multichoice’s DStv platform:

l In terms of overall share, BBC Brit overtook
established rivals to rank in the top three of its
international broadcaster competitive set for key
audiences.
l BBC Earth reached the highest proportion of
audiences in its key competitive set for LSM 810s.
l Viewership share peaked during the
transmission of Top Gear ranked BBC Brit
second in its international competitive set.
l BBC Brit saw an 83% uplift in All Day share
among LSM 7-10 males and a whopping 173%
increase among this demographic during daytime
viewing, compared to BBC Entertainment’s 2015
average.
l BBC Earth’s ranking rose by four places
compared to BBC Knowledge’s final week on air.
