“No transformation of such great scale can occur without challenging the status quo of thinking and planning” updated plan of where to from here with regard to a fleet strategy. Most have a fair idea of where to, but very few can articulate this ‘plan’ with confidence. Having had some three decades in or across fleet management activity I am encouraged by the number of Fleet and Procurement Managers who have recognized that the way forward (one of least resistance and one that has the potential to better navigate roadblocks) is to share knowledge, findings and views. Unfortunately, most ‘sharing’ activity seems to be occurring in small clusters – that is, in my observations, no national discussions (meaning sharing of key knowledge is limited). As noted in my profile I want to be able to help others by sharing my knowledge and where FLEETDRIVE possible facilitate discussion. That has some limitations; as an individual I do not have the resources or infrastructure to do this on a large scale. Having worked alongside the Australasian Fleet Management Association (AfMA) for near on a decade I find myself continually directing Fleet and Procurement Managers to the Association for advice and guidance. From my perspective, AfMA is a great vehicle to facilitate discussion, collectively advance knowledge and provide guidance. This is why I have chosen, in a voluntary capacity, to continue to support the drive of more fleet discussions via the forums offered by AfMA. Let’s get the Fleet Management discussion in NZ moving ahead. Feel free to contact me if you would like to know more about AfMA. “I want to be able to help others by sharing my knowledge and where possible facilitate discussion.” ISSUE 10 2018 / WWW.AFMA.NET.AU 19
