practices, health and nutrition, etc.,” Ona adds. “I felt that it had made a connection with me, and I knew that I would want to share it once I learned it well enough.” when I said I was going to do this.” However, her success has shown that she has found a way to move past that. “There are things that come along the way that you just have to push aside.” Firehawk Yoga blends the teachings of Kemetic Yoga and the basics of nutritious eating to provide students with a well-rounded yoga experience. Ona, along with her significant other and greatest support, operate Roots Raw Kitchen, a health educational business that shows people how to improve their diet by being creative and open-minded. “We do education classes out of our own kitchen. Most people who come through the door don’t leave without some type of info relating to how they can change up their diet, one way or another,” says Ona. The practice of Kemetic Yoga does not separate the physical from the mental from the spiritual, all of which in food plays a big part, and because of the growth of Firehawk Yoga, students can expect more from Roots Raw Kitchen in the near future. Ona inspires others who are on their health and wellness journey by reminding them to never give up. “We tend to create a lot of challenges for ourselves. Even if you don’t have or know everything, there are ways to simplify. Keep on going no matter what, and don’t let obstacles get in your way.” It is this exact way of thinking which has allowed Ona to transform her life and one that she intends to spark in others. “The joy is in sharing it and seeing people learn and use it. To how it can really apply to their lives the same way it has applied to mine.” After years of working for others, Ona knew that at some point she would work for herself. Her love for Kemetic Yoga and sharing health information allowed her to put her passion into this field. “I love the idea of being in business for myself. The entrepreneurial journey has been the most rewarding thing that has happened to me in my life,” Ona exclaims. “I have found that my creative side will never leave me, so blending those things as I move on is a self-discovery process. I have to go back and look at what all my talents are and allow those to play a part in my future ideas.” This understanding is what has allowed Ona to maintain a confident attitude towards what she does. “We tend to separate from that child-like, freespirit where we are fearless and jump right in with no hesitation. It’s important to reflect on all of those things and embrace them all.” As a businesswoman, Ona has been able to grow past the negative expectations of others while creating her vision. “Maybe I was naive about some of the discrimination in that area of business—the idea that a woman wouldn’t be expected to do as well when going into business for herself,” Ona shares. “Those were things that I never thought of Firehawk Yoga is located at 675 Metropolitan Parkway, Atlanta, GA.
