The craft is a distinct gift,
Communication with endless potential.
Painting words together like art,
The blank page a canvas;
We the artist,
And the language our muse.
Scouring your mind for just the right words,
Overflowing with that which must be said,
The need to share a tale of time,
An original piece of your own making.
The small adrenaline spike from creating
Something out of a vast expanse of nothing,
Flows through the mind and
Powers the creative soul.
Handpicking each individual metaphor
From an oversaturated selection-
Finding the right phrase
That strikes a chord in the hearts of listeners.
We bend to the will of the craft;
It washes over us, overtakes us, distracts us.
Who do we listen to but the page
When our message requires us to be its voice?
It cannot speak itself into creation,
It cannot be on its own.
We must set it into motion,
Enable it to blossom into the wilderness of our imaginations.
The craft is an endless gift,
Communication with distinct potential.
The Will
of the Craft

Q: Where did your love of writing begin?
A: I don't actually remember it, but I was writing little stories when I was three. Going to the library when I was younger, I would almost always come back with a full basket of books, and I'd read them all in two weeks or less. The amount of reading that I did helped develop my want to create what I was seeing.
Q: I heard you and Kayla are putting together a novel. What's the format of this book and how did this start?
A: The book is a collaborative effort of the work of two poets, myself and Kayla. We both had always been aware of each other's writing, and we would edit one another's work. We were going to collaborate on a poetry collection before we were aware that capstone was an option, but once that became our option, we ran with it.
