NICK ALDANA

Q: What inspires you to create?

A: I kind of feel like a fraud whenever people ask me this, because I don’t really believe in inspiration. It’s just whether or not I see something cool that’s worth capturing. A lot of artists make pieces with the intent of sending a message or practicing a certain technique, which is cool, but I like to just draw or paint what I think would look nice.

Q: How has your art shaped who you are today?

A: Art has helped me explore a creative part of me that has proven to be extremely useful in almost every area of my life. Because of art, I realized that I have an eye for graphic design, and that’s gotten me far professionally, even as a freelance designer and full-time student. Art has also been a great way for me to learn about other people’s creative processes and their relationship with their work, which really made me appreciate how personal art really is.
