The Results So Far Eight months after welcoming the first “neighbor” to Harbor South, the community has reason to celebrate. Residents are now fully engaged in life, making new friends and participating in meaningful activities, everything from enjoying family dinners and making home cooked meals, to participating in crafts and games with friends and staff. “By tailoring the types of offerings to what’s personally meaningful to each member, engagement has doubled and even tripled for some individuals,” said Ackroyd. “We have one notable resident who didn’t enjoy leaving his room while in the health center, he now participates in more than 130 events and activities a month.
