The park’s ecosystem protects a handful of threatened species, such as Steller’s sea lions, the northern spotted owl, and Chi- nook salmon. A stop at the visi- tor’s center will give the kids a great history lesson on the im- portance of the park, and Red- woods in general. Almost 40 miles of the park stretches over the coastline, and beyond the trees, there are a variety of pro- tected prairies, woodlands, and wild rivers. Hang out with a tour guide as you go through the park, and if you’re up for a longer stay, check out some of the cabin rentals offered, such as Elk Meadow Cabins, which is lo- cated in the heart of the park. Elk Meadow offers interpretive tours, as well as biking, hiking, and horseback riding excur- sions, all perfect activities for making memories with family.
