Overall, you have to decide what works for you the best. What are you trying to accom- plish during your trip? Are you fishing for sport, pleasure, both? Freshwater or saltwa- ter? Big game fish or smaller, more common fish? All of these factors need to be consid- ered, and you have to test the bait! It is best to throw variety in, especially when fishing for sport, because you’re much more likely to catch your trophy lunker if you are switch- ing up your bait and techniques, along with your location. Everyone likes to say that “the real thing” is way better, but some tried and true experts of the field have joined the lure team after noticing their benefits as well. Can lures get the job done every single time? No, not always, but neither can live bait. It’s all in the experience, patience, and lines of the fisherman.
